John was looking for some WinPE drivers: ***** I have a question from a customer on WinPE 3.0 support on Gen8 servers. They are having a trouble with BL460 Gen8 Blades as they cannot get their WinPE 3.0 based Boot Media to see the 554FLB NICs and therefore they cannot initiate the SCCM build process.

DESCRIPTION

Any HP ProLiant BladeSystem c7000 or c3000 Enclosure configuration that includes HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades requires Onboard Administrator Firmware 3.50 (or later). If Virtual Connect (VC) is used, Virtual Connect Firmware Version 3.51 (or later) is also required, to avoid the following potential issues:

HP ProLiant BladeSystem Enclosures without Virtual Connect (VC) configured:

If the Onboard Administrator (OA) Firmware is Version 3.21 (or earlier), the OA will not correctly display the bezel graphics nor recognize the LOM devices on HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades.
If the OA Firmware is Version 3.30, 3.31 or 3.32, the OA recognizes the LOM devices on the HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades. However, the following anomalies exist.
- The OA does not correctly display the bezel graphics for HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades in the GUI.
- The OA feature to update the Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) firmware does not function on HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades.
Note: The iLO Firmware on the HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blade can be updated using the iLO Firmware update capability.

HP ProLiant BladeSystem Enclosure with Virtual Connect (VC) configured:

The Onboard Administrator Firmware Version 3.21 (or earlier) does not support HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades.
The Onboard Administrator Firmware Version 3.30, 3.31 or 3.32 does support HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades; however, duplicate MAC or WWN addresses may occur if the HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades are deployed and profiles are assigned using the VC assigned MAC/WWN addresses. This issue may cause servers to be connected to unintended networks or fabrics if either of the following operations are performed:
- Restoring an existing VC domain from a backup VC configuration file using the Restore Domain function.
- Importing a VC domain from a backup configuration file using the Import Domain Wizard function.
When HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades are deployed using any of the Onboard Administrator Versions 3.3x and the OA Firmware is later upgraded to OA Firmware 3.50 (or later), all HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades that have a VC server profile already assigned will go into the Profile Pending state.
Note: The HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades must be power-cycled in order to restore the Profile Pending state to a normal state. This will not create any networking outages using Virtual Connect Firmware Versions 3.51 (or above).

SCOPE

Any HP ProLiant c-Class c7000 or c3000 Enclosures that include HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades.

RESOLUTION

Before installing HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades in HP c-Class BladeSystem c7000 or c3000 Enclosures, the Onboard Administrator (OA) Firmware and the Virtual Connect (VC) Firmware must be upgraded to the following versions (or later):

Onboard Administrator (OA) Firmware Version 3.50
Virtual Connect (VC) Firmware Version 3.51

Note: These firmware versions are applicable to the HP ProLiant BL460c server blade. If other HP ProLiant Gen8 server blades other than the HP ProLiant BL460c server blade are added to the enclosure at a later date, the minimum OA and VC firmware versions may be different than firmware versions included in this advisory.
