Asus P4p800-e Deluxe Motherboard Driver For Macbook Pro
Hello,
I have system using an Asus P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard onto which I recently installed Windows 7. This motherboard has an Intel 865PE chipset with an ICH5R south bridge. Older USB 1.1 devices seem to work fine, however my newer USB 2.0 devices fail to install correctly.
This includes a 1GB USB Flash drive. When I plug it in, I see the 'USB Mass Storage Device' entry appear in the USB section of the device manager, but shortly after that it updates with a yellow ! next to it. No drive letter is ever assigned, and the device status is 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'. This happens whether I plug it into the front or rear USB connectors.
I have read numerous places that recommend disconnecting all USB devices, uninstalling all of them from the device manager and rebooting. This I have tried several times with no success. I do not have Nero or any squirrelly software installed either, and I have used regedit to check for possible Upperfilters and Lowerfilters, but it seems clean.
My theory is that the motherboard chipset drivers are not installed and it is running on a generic set of drivers, but running the intel INF update utility doesn't seem to help, which can be found here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=816&DwnldID=18494&lang=eng
I have run that several times, using 'Run As Administrator', but nothing seems to change. I am unsure whether or not it is actually installing those drivers. More troubling is the note on that page that says that it will not update the USB drivers anyway. I have tried looking for specify USB drivers, but have not been able to find any.
Does anyone have an idea of what might be going on? Or where to find USB drivers? Or how to verify that my attempt at updating the chipset drivers was successful?
Thank You.
